For Tuesday
Welcome back! It was a bit of a shock to see your lovely faces this morning! Here are the assignments for this rainy Monday evening.
Creative Writing
We are still working on our dialogues. If you got feedback, you should be making changes and getting your final version ready for Wednesday. If you haven't had feedback you can hand in your final version on Thursday instead. Some of you may have descriptive writing assignments to hand in. Don't forget about them as well.
We are going to the library on Thursday and Friday.
English 12
Comparative Essay Draft 2 for tomorrow. Final version is due on Wednesday. Make sure that you are addressing a topic and not relying too much on plot summary.
English 11
Final version of your Flash fiction is due on Wednesday. Remember to consider the criteria for good flash fiction.
Read the story "Test" for tomorrow and have the definitions and sentences ready for class.

For the holidays
Not too, too much to do over the holidays. Hope you have a great break and that wherever you are, you are having fun and enjoying your time with friends and family. If you are at home, the weather is supposed to be glorious, so enjoy every minute of it!

Bring your draft of your dialogue to class for the first day back. Please type it. Some of you have not handed in your last writing assignment, please take the time to get it done and handed in by the 23rd.
It has been great to share your writing and to get to know you better. I can't wait to see what you do with your dialogues.

1st draft of your essay comparing and contrasting or just comparing or contrasting some element of the "Kugelmass Episode" and "Midnight in Paris." You should have a minimum of 4 paragraphs. An example of a topic might be: Discuss how magical realism plays a role in both the movie and the story. Compare the theme of desire in the movie and the story. Please be ready with a typed version.
I look forward to reading and sharing your insights. Make sure to carefully craft your thesis statement. Be sure to refer to your handouts for assistance if you are confused.

Consider having the reader jump into the scene and see where that might take you as the writer. Remember: choose love.

We will finish watching Midnight in Paris tomorrow and will begin outlining our compare writing assignment. You need to make a connection between the story and the movie. Be sure to pick a focus. It could be plot, theme, character development, setting....over to you.Good copy will be due the second day back. Draft will be due the first day back.

We are writing a draft of flash fiction for tomorrow. We brainstormed some ideas in class today. Try following the suggestions for Flash fiction writing from the handout that I passed out in class. Final version will be due after the break.
Great presentations today. Some of them were so incredibly heart wrenching. You all connected well with the emotional intention. Now, try to carry some of that awareness into your writing of your piece. No more than 3/4 of a page.
