Finish reading the pages that were handed out in class today. 8 important issues for Aboriginal people in Canada. Use a highlighter and make notes in the margin.  Add to your know and want to know list from Friday's class.

Bring your silent reading book to class for tomorrow

"I am from" poem/first draft of half of the poem. The final draft will be due on Friday. Use your rubric to guide you. Make sure to use imagery, metaphor or any other type figurative language to bring richness and vibrancy to your poem.
We will be working on portfolios tomorrow. Please bring pencils, crayons etc.

Research the origin of your name. Note your feelings, thoughts reaction to your name. Perhaps ask why your name was chosen.  Consider why names are important and what judgments we make about people and their names.
Reading books for Tuesday and Thursday. The goal of our reading is to look at style, narrative voice, character development, plot etc.
