Today we worked on our Just Lather scripts. Presentation on Friday. I hope I said Friday and not Tuesday. Oh well, you will let me know.

Today we talked about the story Just Lather That's All. We discussed how to write the theme of a story:
It is:
universal/applies to most people
general
a statement about life that connects to the story
not a cliche
not a moral
uses words that are inclusive such as we/us, people/they/ or one

We learned about parallel structure today. We will continue with work on it tomorrow.
Read Walter Mitty on p. 33 of the Imprints book. Answer the questions in point form
Tomorrow you will be working in groups to create a dramatic reading of one section of the story.

English 10 H
Your final Choices assignment is due on Wednesday.
The next group of students will read their I am from poems on Wednesday.

It promises to be a sunny weekend. Get outside and enjoy yourself! All students: Silent Reading Assignment is due on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012
You must write 5 journal reflections of a page to a page and a half. Typed is best/Blue or Black Pen
You must define 20 words and use them in a sentence. My preference is that you write a sentence that is related to the story.

Good copy of character sketch is due for Monday. Use parallel structure at least once in your assignment. You should highlight it or underline it for me.

Please read Miss Brill and note what you learn about her character. Mansfield has characterized her indirectly. Tomorrow we will be creating our own characters. How fun is that!!!!! Reading quiz.
Please bring your reading book for Friday. You will be doing 5 reading journals and 15 vocabulary words with sentences. You will have 6 weeks to complete your first novel.

We are going to the library to pick an independent novel. We will be reading in class tomorrow.
Tonight:
Highlight the sheet on characterization?what do you know?
Revise the story from Identities. Good copy typed or hand written in pen double spaced for easier reading. Hand in rubric, rough draft and good copy. Please note what changes you are making to your final version.
If you didn't get your poem finished for today, it is due tomorrow. Not done, you are in to finish it after school.

Good copy of story is due for tomorrow. Rubric, draft and good copy to hand in. Poem: Auto Wreck on page 36. Find 2 examples of: similes, metaphors, imagery, personification. There is a quiz on Short Story terms on Wednesday. It will be matching. I will change the definition of climax for the quiz.
