Your poems are due for tomorrow. We will be presenting them in class. Think of ways to present your pantomime about the play. You may bring costumes if you like!

English 12
Finish reading the story "Legend of the Sugar Girl". Make notes in the margins about connections between the story and the pre-reading we did regarding issues for First Nations people. Make sure you note the significance of the connection. Why is it important? Think deeply.

English 8
We will be presenting our "I am from" poems on Monday. Please make sure that you have them ready. We will be doing a reading carousel tomorrow. Remember that silent reading will be on Tuesday and Thursday. If you don't enjoy your book, try to find one that makes you happy. Reading should be fun.

Finish reading your section about Shakespeare and how he changed the world. Remember that everyone is to read the first section.
We will be doing pantomimes and anticipation questions in class.

Correct your first draft/journal entry of your persuasive paragraph.  Remember to follow the correct format. I will be collecting your papers so that I can give you feedback.

Type your next draft of your Miracle poem. We will choose due date tomorrow in class. Work on your part of the Shakespeare timeline.

What texture are you? Choose 3 from the list that was handed out in class. Explain why or how you are that texture. Remember this is about symbolism; it doesn't need to literally represent you.
ex. I am sharp. I can be uncomfortable in stressful situations.

Bring pencil crayons and markers to class on Monday.
Write five of your own "miracles" we will be sharing in class on Monday and then we will be writing our own versions. You might want to think about how you could start your own poem. Whitman used simple imagery to convey his message about the beauty of ordinary things, but you may want to express yourself differently.

Finish both sides of the sheet on Just Lather. Be prepared to discuss on Monday.

First draft of "I am From" poem. You need to have about 10 lines.

Make sure to note some points for discussion tomorrow. We will be working on Body Paragraph 1 tomorrow in class. You will need to find some examples from each story that show connection. Your job is to show the reader what you understand: your ability to synthesize, to analyze....

Plan the opening paragraph of your synthesis essay. Use a 2 point thesis statement. We will make sure to revise and edit your opening together on Monday.
