Work on outline of essay. We will be doing conclusions in class tomorrow. Remember that the final version is due on Friday. It will need to be typed. If it is not typed, it is not ready.

Notes on p. 35. Duncan's speech and Macbeth's aside. What do you notice about his character shifting?
What shows you that? Look at the contrasts that are used here. What is the tone?
Tomorrow we are going to meet Lady Macbeth.

Silent reading tomorrow. Please bring your book. Journals are due at the end of class.
Colour your cartoon and make notes under the picture. What message are you giving with your colour choice?

Your draft should be typed so that you can edit it more easily.

Read Scene 3 for Tuesday
Write a journal about receiving the wish that you wanted. You can't pick a thousand or million wishes. Write about half a page or more. Be detailed, be specific, be creative!

Introduction and Body Paragraph 1 of essay outline. Remember to address the question. Follow the point, evidence, explanation format. Give 2 examples at least. Make sure that you are giving supportive evidence. Don't assume your reader know what you mean.

Fabulous cards today! You are simply amazing!
Finish your Name Game sheet. Find adjective to describe yourself. If you have a letter like X or Z...
be creative....zealous, eXcellent, eXtraordinary...
Bring them to class on Tuesday.

Bring your silent reading books tomorrow.
Finish your Symbol card. Make sure that your symbols and colours represent you and that you explain how they do.

English 12
Grad Transitions tomorrow with Mr. Ross and Mrs. Janzen. Come to class for attendance.
Write a thesis statement based on the question that we formulated in class. Bring it back to class for sharing on Friday. Good work on topic sentences today.

English 11
Finish watching videos of opening scene of Macbeth. Make sure that you note some ideas about the effectiveness of each one. We will be writing about our thoughts tomorrow in class.

Fabulous improvisations today! Practice being witches tonight. We will begin reading the play tomorrow after a power-point note-taking introduction.

Finish your reading journal tonight. You should try to have 5 points on your sheet. Remember right side is for information and left side is for thinking and reflection. If you haven't revised your draft of your writing for your symbols card, please complete it at home tonight as well.

English 12
Highlight the handout about Topic sentences and thesis statements. For topic sentences you can go to the University of Toronto's "Writing Advice" website. For thesis statements, try SFU library. I tried to download the link for you, but it wouldn't save. I have the sheets, you can drop by my room in the morning to get them.

Your poems are due for tomorrow. We will be presenting them in class. Think of ways to present your pantomime about the play. You may bring costumes if you like!

English 12
Finish reading the story "Legend of the Sugar Girl". Make notes in the margins about connections between the story and the pre-reading we did regarding issues for First Nations people. Make sure you note the significance of the connection. Why is it important? Think deeply.

English 8
We will be presenting our "I am from" poems on Monday. Please make sure that you have them ready. We will be doing a reading carousel tomorrow. Remember that silent reading will be on Tuesday and Thursday. If you don't enjoy your book, try to find one that makes you happy. Reading should be fun.
