Creative Writing
Your stories are due tomorrow. We will be in the library tomorrow. Please meet me there.

English 11
Write a reflection based on the your T-chart. Write about the similarities and differences between the the Test and the Pedestrian.

Write a theme statement: What is the thematic message about identity in these 2 stories ?
How to write a THEME statement
Theme is the main idea, concern, moral, purpose or underlying message of a story/poem. In a serious piece of literature, the theme is usually expressed indirectly rather than directly and requires the reader to deduce it from the narrative details of the text.

  1. Creating a theme statement first requires identifying different theme topics that can be found in the work.

Examples: love, betrayal, power, ambition

  1. Next, think about how this topic is treated in the text. Is there a positive or negative impact in the treatment of the theme topic?

Example: Too much ambition can be bad.

  1. Finally, what is the result of this treatment? What outcome can be identified in the either positive or negative treatment of the theme topic?

Example: Excessive ambition can lead to a character’s downfall.

Therefore, a theme statement can be created using the following formula:

TOPIC + TREATMENT (+/-) = RESULT

*Tomorrow we will write our Pedestrian draft. You will choose between the 2 pieces and revise it for the end of the weeks
