Silent reading tomorrow. Fire drill and evacuation practice.

Silent reading tomorrow. Ms. Janzen is coming to speak to our class as well.
We will be finishing our debate competition and we will start drafting our next  extended paragraph. First draft will be due on Monday. Typed draft Tuesday. Final version due Wednesday. You will choose which is your better paragraph, but you will hand in both.

Create your chart with the 5 senses. Find 2 quotes for 2 senses. Note the mood that is created by the imagery.

Remember to think about the characteristics of a hero and villain. How does the captain fit your definition? What did the captain do or not do........think more deeply about the man.

Finish the first question on the Metaphor sheet. Make sure that you have quotes that support your drawing.

Spend about 10 minutes working on your name card. I will give you about 20 minutes class time to work on it. You will bring back your final product on Thursday.

Type up your Name piece and bring it to class for tomorrow. Final version will be due on Thursday.Try to finish your metaphor sheet. We will be picking our favorites in class tomorrow.

Type up your draft. We will read edited versions in class and you will hand in the final version on Thursday.

Semester 2

What a great first week. It was amazing meeting all of you! Please check here for assignments etc. Feel free to send a quick email if you are confused by anything or if you need assistance with anything.

Bring your silent reading book on Monday. We will read in class on Mondays and Fridays.
This week we have been talking about symbolism and colour symbolism.  We are going to create our own symbol cards starting on Monday. Take some time to think about how you could represent yourself through colour, shape, and line.

English 10

Silent Reading for Monday as well. I handed out a sheet called: What's in a Name? Finish the questions for discussion on Monday.

English 12

Silent Reading on Monday. We will be doing a writing assignment in class on Monday related to the story: "The Nearest Exit May be Behind You".  You will have a choice of 4 creative writing assignments. We will be writing a draft in class on Monday. A typed draft will need to be completed for Monday's class.
