Writing contest entries are due on Tuesday, April 23rd.

Today we began our skits. We will finish them tomorrow. Good job today, everyone! I was very impressed with your skills.

Tonight: read the story "The Test" We will discuss it tomorrow.
Remember the differences we discussed today:
Theme of a story: central message of a story. The author's purpose for writing.
Theme statement: a general statement about life. We often use theme statements to start our Cross-grade essays.
Thesis statement: opinion, direction of an essay
Reading journals are due on Tuesday. I handed out a list of suggestions for writing. I will collect your first journal and give you feedback.

Have a good evening. We will share our journals tomorrow and we will watch the Harrison Bergeron movie.

Creative Writing

Haikus are due tomorrow.

We are choosing the next project for class tomorrow. We will also choose the next draft due date for the music assignment.
