Have your Catcher in the Rye writing ready to hand in. Monologue is on the top. Keep a copy for yourself.
Half the class will present tomorrow and the other half will present on Thursday.

Write about how superstition has affected you or someone you know or write about what effect rumors have had on your life or on the life of someone you know.

You will finish the book tonight and discuss it in class tomorrow.
Monologue is due for Monday. this is to be written from an absent character's point of view. For example:
What would Jane say about Holden. Imagine that she is addressing someone. Consider her possible point of view.
Look through the booklet for possible essay questions. The test will be on Tuesday.

Lit terms to fable. Quiz tomorrow. Next test on Monday...to Graphic Text
Read the next 2 chapters in the novel.
We will be finished by the end of the week.
Unit test on Tuesday.
Write one stanza of a poem using "Rain within myself" as a model. Use metaphors to describe the relationship between 2 people in the novel.

Lit terms to fable on Thursday
Paragraph: find a quote and discuss the gap between Holden's perception of reality and of reality itself.
Remember you need to have a topic sentence and a thesis.
Read up to Chapter 21
Correct 3 passive voice sentences

We will have an essay test on Catcher on Tuesday. Same format as the last one.

Week 3!
Tonight: write the opening paragraph of essay. Use parallel structure and avoid Run-on sentences
Discuss the roles that Phoebe and Jane play in Holden's life and examine what we learn about him by what he tells us.
Outline the body paragraphs using the point by point method.
Write your one important sum up line for your conclusion
Forget to talk about quiz tomorrow, so it will be on Wednesday. Thurs lit terms to fable.
Do run-on sheet, 5 sentences.
Read 2 more chapters.

For the weekend

We have made it through 2 weeks. Go out and enjoy the sun, but don't forget to do the homework!

Government exam is on August 12th. I don't know when you are scheduled to write.
Interims go out on on Friday.
If you are absent, please keep up with the work to the best of your ability.


Read to the end of Chapter 15 on the weekend. Look at the sheets in the package. You don't have to do them. We will be doing them or something like them in class.

Write an essay about Ackley and Stradlater and how they reveal characteristics about Holden.
Introduction
Compare Ackley and Stradlater to Holden
Contrast them to Holden
Conclusion

1. Draft of the I am from poem. Remember to try to be creative with it. You don't need to follow the template exactly.
2. Read the story Identities and define the words in context. The words are on the sheet that follows the the story.
3. Study for the lit terms test. Do the crossword. Terms are up to atmosphere.
