We are going to work on our assignments for a brief time tomorrow and then we are going to review cross grade writing and then we are going to start on section 3 of the memoir. Remember that the Cross grade exam is on May 30.

For Monday

Hope you all have a fantastic long weekend. This is going to be a busy month. We have Cross grade Essays on May 30th. We will be getting ready for those essays and we will be working on reading as well. You will need to plan ahead if you are going to be away. Check here for work first. It will make your life easier.

English 8
We will be reading our poems on Monday. Please practice them on the weekend.  Remember:
Eye contact, volume, pacing, and inflection in your voice are the qualities we are looking to see.

English 12
Draft of your journal for the second section of the memoir. Be sure to include connections to the field trip or to the class discussion. You need to write at least one page. Do not provide a summary of the section. Include quotations and support your thinking throughout the journal. Consider why you are saying something and explain your thinking.

English 10
Bring your photo of something that you think tells a story. I did ask you to take a picture when you were on your field trip; however, I didn't have the chance to remind you about it. We went outside on Thursday and took pictures. We are writing "6-word stories" about those pictures. You can look them up online.

More importantly, have your poem ready for Monday. It should be typed and ready to read in class. We will be practicing in class. We are going to finish Chapter 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird and then we are going to establish a reading schedule. You will need to read this book outside of class time. If you have trouble with reading, consider supporting your reading with the audiobook version. It will enhance your reading.

Have your good copy of your concrete poem ready. We are going to read our poems aloud on Monday. We are going to practice on Monday. We are also going to finish the trivia activity. Be ready to show your knowledge.

English 10

Try drafting the first version of your poem about your favorite activity. We will talk about formatting and about how to create a direction for your poem on Monday. We will work on editing our poems in class and we will talk about how to create good thinking questions for our lit circles.

English 12

We will need to be at the Holocaust Symposium by 8:45 at the latest on Wednesday. You will need to plan accordingly. There is parking below. There are designated spots.

I will hand out the plan for the day so that you have an idea of what we will be doing. I will need to finalize rides on Monday.

You should have your questions ready for lit circles tomorrow. You should have read the second section of the book. We will work on our symbol assignment after discussion. We are going to have a whole class discussion tomorrow.

Meet in the foyer at 11:00 for the field trip. Please inform your block D teacher before the start of class.

Make sure that you type your paragraph. We are going to revise in class tomorrow and then you will hand in your good copy on Monday. You will also hand in your first paragraph. I would like you to think about the changes you have made to your second writing piece.

Tonight, make notes on your discussion. We will be writing a reflection of our discussion in class tomorrow. We will also finish our class discussion by using some of our discussion questions.

Please have your field trip forms ready. Make sure that you have your ride arranged with me or with someone else. Please return the driver's forms as well. You cannot drive to the event if you don't have the form.

Remember....everyone must have this done tomorrow. If you were absent today--make notes about your questions and your thinking. You can write your connections tomorrow.

Read: Letter to Father. Find images in the text. Use a pencil to mark to book. Note the image, the sense that it appeals to and then note the message/feeling of the image. We will be working on presenting this poem on Monday.
