If you haven't handed in your novel assignment, it is now due.
Essay test on Thursday:
Possible topics: Discuss the conflict in 2 stories. Examine the role of irony in 2 stories.
Friday is the short answer part of the test.

Definitions up to Chapter 4 for the Monday back. Be prepared for a reading quiz.
Read up to Chapter 4 (the end of the chapter)

Just one more day to go.
Creative Writing
Tomorrow we will finish reading our stories. That means that you will need to bring another copy to class. When you have finished the stories, you can go to the library to work on your blogs.
I did get Austin's blogs. Have you done yours? Remember some of you are quite far behind. If you haven't submitted your story, please send it in. I would like to finish them over the break.
When we come back, we will be writing haikus and working on our next project.
If you have something you really want to do, please think about it over the holiday and come back with a proposal for the class.

While we are off
Finish the question sheet on Miss Brill
Write a character description of Miss Brill and use evidence from the story. By that I mean, use quotations to support your observations. Remember to cite correctly.
Write a character sketch of your own. Create a new character. Use indirect or direct characterization to create your character.
There will be a lit terms quiz up to fable on Thursday.
Begin reading 1984. Look up Orwell online and find out 3 facts about him.
Creative Writing
Send me an email so that I can comment on your drafts. Share your drafts with one another.
Final copy is due on Thursday. It must be typed and I would like you to put a cover page on your story.
Think very carefully about how you are telling the story. What angle of narration are you using? Consider where you start the story.

Revised version of your persuasive essay/rough draft attached and rubric as well.
Read Miss Brill (look up the page in the Table of Contents)
We will be choosing our novel study tomorrow
You will be writing a character sketch while you are away. We will have a short story test when we get back from the break. You should have your first novel study done by March 27th with 5 journal entries.
