For Monday

Hope you all have a fantastic long weekend. This is going to be a busy month. We have Cross grade Essays on May 30th. We will be getting ready for those essays and we will be working on reading as well. You will need to plan ahead if you are going to be away. Check here for work first. It will make your life easier.

English 8
We will be reading our poems on Monday. Please practice them on the weekend.  Remember:
Eye contact, volume, pacing, and inflection in your voice are the qualities we are looking to see.

English 12
Draft of your journal for the second section of the memoir. Be sure to include connections to the field trip or to the class discussion. You need to write at least one page. Do not provide a summary of the section. Include quotations and support your thinking throughout the journal. Consider why you are saying something and explain your thinking.

English 10
Bring your photo of something that you think tells a story. I did ask you to take a picture when you were on your field trip; however, I didn't have the chance to remind you about it. We went outside on Thursday and took pictures. We are writing "6-word stories" about those pictures. You can look them up online.

More importantly, have your poem ready for Monday. It should be typed and ready to read in class. We will be practicing in class. We are going to finish Chapter 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird and then we are going to establish a reading schedule. You will need to read this book outside of class time. If you have trouble with reading, consider supporting your reading with the audiobook version. It will enhance your reading.
